Lo-res photos. My trip to Ventura County had a great beginning: it just poured rain. Rain conditions varied throughout the drive, sometimes quite intense, with freeway flooding and hydroplaning, other times, rain through bright scattered sunshine, as Eric Clapton sang "let It Rain". I'd like to drive this entire route--you can see how beautiful the lichen covered trees are in the rain.
eastern end, along Hwy 101
WikiPedia notes:
The road is well-paved and maintained over its length, but is winding and has precipitous drops at almost every turn. The eastern slope is heavily forested allowing few vistas." Very inviting.
I continued my trip to Ventura, surprised to see so many mountaintops dusted with snow -- From San Jose to Santa Barbara, Ventura to LA. Lots of snow. Once I arrived at my destination, I was gifted with a drenching downpour, making for a very fun drive on Hwy 126. The next days were sunny and in the 60's...
Y'know, on your way back, if you can add a very enjoyable hour or two to your return trip, you might just be able to enjoy this jewel.
